ADULT SPIRITUAL EDUCATION & GROUPS

Unity was originally founded as a publishing organization devoted to adult spiritual education; students of Unity teachings were known as Truth students.

In that tradition, we offer regular classes, discussion groups, and workshops for adults who are interested in deepening their spiritual knowledge, raising their Divine consciousness, or enhancing their practice of prayer, meditation, and healthy living. We offer many weekly and monthly opportunities that meet in-person, online, or both.

If you are interested in joining any groups, please fill out this form and we will forward it to the relevant group leader(s).

About the leader and teacher, Julian Douglas:
Julian Douglas is a Remo Health Rhythms trained facilitator and a recipient of the Indiana Arts Commission On-Ramp Fellowship, with 25 years of experience facilitating drum and dance circles, as well as a world percussion teacher and a performing percussionist. Raised by a jazz pianist, Julian’s childhood was an immersive education in music, with a strong emphasis on rhythm. His studies have included elements of the music and traditions of various cultures, including those in the African diaspora, the Middle-East, Eastern Europe, and India.

As a composer and drum/dance circle facilitator, Julian’s focus has been to draw inspiration and knowledge from traditional music, while holding a sustained value for the creative impulse of the present moment and the centrality of the individual as the source of living creativity. Julian has performed and taught lessons and workshops throughout the Eastern United States.

    POSSIBLY RESUMING IN MARCH 2024

This group meets via Zoom and engages in free-wheeling discussions on all things metaphysical.

  • Four times per week, on Zoom
    ~1 hour

    Led by Rev. David LeBeau

An easy, adaptable, and great workout you can do from the safety and comfort of your own home.

  • Saturdays, in the Chapel
    9:00 - 10:00 am

With Cathy Haggerty and Machai St. Rain

Crystal bowls, energy and sound healing, laughter yoga, and breathing meditation! Based on the Nidra, a deeply relaxing “yogic sleep” where the work is integrated into the nervous system and the body totally relaxes so that the mind can travel as the body rests.

Cathy states that strengthening one’s mind and body connection (going within) also strengthens one’s spiritual connection.
Machai loves yoga because “it is the practice of embodying my highest self to the best of my ability, accepting myself exactly as I am here and now. It is a time to inquire as to ‘who am I’ and how I am honoring my own Life”.

All are welcome! No experience is necessary and all skill levels will be accommodated. Bring a yoga mat and a water bottle, and dress in comfy clothes that you can move in.

A $10 love offering is requested for each class, but no one will be turned away. Come and start your weekends with gentle movement, breath work, and relaxation.

Monthly Opportunities

  • First Wednesday of each month
    1:00 - 2:00 pm, in the Chapel

    Led by Maryellen May

InterPlay is an active and creative approach to unlocking the wisdom of the body. It is a system of guided, improvisational forms and tools based in telling stories, making sounds, creating movement, and having stillness. InterPlay integrates body, mind, heart, and spirit. Co-founded in 1989 by Phil Porter (originally a Bloomingtonian!) and Cynthia Winton-Henry, InterPlay InterPlay is a fun way to de-stress, reduce anxiety, and discover connections. It teaches the language and ethic of play in a deep and powerful way. Playing together builds community and fosters embodiment. The spill-over effect of InterPlay in daily life can bring more joy, ease, depth, and openness.

Maryellen May leads this workshop in the Unity chapel. Set up and social time starts at 12:30 p.m., with the workshop running from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. There is no cost; however, a love offering towards Unity of Bloomington would be very welcome. Invite a little PLAY into your lives. Come and join the FUN!

‘A Course in Miracles’ refers to a miraculous healing process as a shift in perception. This is a process that leads to deeper healing than most people experience since the healing is transformative. It is internal soul-level healing. Join us for a workshop to learn and practice effective soul-healing techniques that create a more loving and peaceful life.

These workshops are hosted by Rev. Karen Williams and Wendy Wonderley. They may be attended in person, or viewed remotely via our homepage, YouTube, or Facebook.

Everyone is Welcome! It is not necessary to have attended previous sessions to attend.

You may view recordings of previous workshops in this series here: A Course in Miracles 2023 Playlist on YouTube
